Our Staff
All of the clinicians at Erickson Institute of Hypnosis are licensed professionals with a minimum of 20 years of experience. Our directors have all published in major professional journals and have addressed professional conventions, both in the United States and abroad. Each comes from a different background and provides a unique perspective.
Daniel R. Lutzker, Ph.D. is Executive Director of the Institute and is one of the founders. He is a licensed psychologist in private practice. Dr. Lutzker has worked in several clinical settings, including the Nassau County (NY) Medical Center where he served for 20 years. In addition, he has taught at several colleges and universities. He has served as an officer of numerous professional organizations and is currently President of the Division of Independent Practice of the New York State Psychological Association. Dr. Lutzker has lectured on hypnosis both in the U.S. and abroad.
Daniel L. Araoz, Ed.D. is Director of Professional Education and is one of the founders of the Institute. In addition to holding two ABPP diplomas, he is an ABPH Diplomate in Clinical Hypnosis and a fellow of both the American Psychological Association and The Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis. He has edited 11 books and numerous articles on hypnosis. He has also served on the editorial boards of numerous journals and as an officer of several professional organizations. Dr. Araoz has lectured on hypnosis in both the U.S. and a number of foreign countries.
Marie Carrese, Ph.D., is Deputy Director of the Long Island branch of our institute. She is an associate professor at York College, CUNY and a licensed psychologist in private practice. Dr. Carrese also serves on the Editorial Review Board of the NYS Journal for Counseling and Human Development.
